The WDAS Women of Excellence Luncheon is a powerful annual celebration honoring trailblazing women across the Philadelphia region who lead with purpose, impact, and heart. From community advocates and business leaders to cultural icons and change-makers, this signature event uplifts women whose work inspires progress and empowers future generations.


Held on April 12, 2025 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, the Women of Excellence Luncheon is much more than a formal event — it’s a platform to spotlight women whose work uplifts communities, inspires others, and shapes our cultural landscape.


This year’s honorees included:

  • Dr. Beverly Coleman – Chief of Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Development at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

  • Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester – U.S. Senator representing Delaware

  • Aziza Shuler – Emmy Award-winning journalist and CBS3 weekend anchor

  • Dr. Dorothy Johnson Speight – Founder & Executive Director of Mothers In Charge

  • Kendra Van De Water – Co-CEO of YEAH Philly


In addition to these phenomenal leaders, WDAS FM introduced two special LEGEND Awards recognizing lifetime achievement in entertainment:

  • Sherri Shepherd received the Legend Award for Film & TV Achievement

  • Lalah Hathaway was honored with the Legend Award for Musical Achievement


While the focus is on celebrating success, the Women of Excellence Luncheon also highlights local “sheroes” — women whose everyday work makes a big difference in Philly:

  • Loree Jones-Brown – CEO of Philabundance

  • Dale Sharpe-Lee – First Lady of Jones Memorial Baptist Church & HR leader

  • Myesha Massey – Deputy Commissioner, Philadelphia Police Department

  • Cheryl Ann Wadlington – Founder & Executive Director of The Evoluer House WDAS


Live performances added energy and soul to the event, featuring Sunshine Anderson, Jeff Bradshaw, and Q Parker(founding member of 112).
